Sixth floor, room 603, this is where my morning starts. Early mornings never worked that well for me, well unless it involves sleeping in. Room 603 is my foundations class, where I will have to establish myself as an artist through clusters of fundamental art theory and practice. Nobody likes re-learning the basics, especially at an art college, were all obsessed with how we are way (wayyyyyy) passed that. Before the semester began, we were told to forget everything we were taught in high school art; fortunate for me, I never paid much attention to my art classes. Something made the class way too formal for learning, art that is.

How can you teach someone to be a good artist? You can’t. You can teach people how to draw good lines and good circles, even great lines and circles, but lines and circles don’t make art. Just like letters and punctuations don’t make a poem. That’s what the entire art department symbolizes to me, that you can teach us all of the technique in the world, and we can still manage to turn it into crap and that too, is art, if we say it is. The sixth floor’s walls display student artwork from classes regularly. It feeds us, the students, inspiration. Good art or bad art, its still food; just like how writers progress from reading and writing, visual artists progress by looking and drawing, which in my opinion, is far easier than what writers have to do.

When I first came to Cornish, one of my biggest hesitations about the school was the “artsy-ness” factor. Yes, it’s a real word; it means, “to be self-consciously artistic.” Its fine to be artsy in high school, there are maybe a handful of students who claim themselves as artists. But now take those students and multiply them by one hundred. Scary right? Okay maybe not scary, but weird, really weird. I consider myself a pretty normal kid in my world; okay so not normal, but average. See where I’m going here? Artists are like the black sheep at school; we stand out in a crowd of white sheep. But Cornish is like the black sheep pasture; taking all of the black sheep from the field and sticking them together in one building. I was worried at first; I don’t like to represent myself as an artist, especially not a conceptual one. I’ve never been the most social type, but I do know I’m getting there.

The willingness to unite under a bond of what we share as common interests connects the student body at Cornish and perhaps our major may be the only thing we have in common. This is the design floor, this is where the design students play and over at Kerry Hall, that’s where the music and dance students play. “You dance? That’s cool, I do art.” I haven’t been enrolled long enough to experience the collaborations between the other departments, so I don’t know what’s going on with the other students. I’m a freshman; it’s supposed to be like that, well in high school at least.

Not really here to say anything, just felt like making a post.

I’ll just leave this here.

yesterday i almost died…

so im driving to west seatte to catch the ferry to a photoshoot over on vashon island

when i get off the freeway…i realize my brakes are cut..meaning no brakes…meaning cant stop..meaning wont stop

meaning cant stop wont stop rocafella records..cuz we get down baby, we get down

haha so i ran this red light because my brakes werent working and i had to swerv in and out to avoid traffic!!

ughhhhhhhhh no way i was going to take this death machine onto the ferry

so i parked in some neighborhood about half a mile away from the ferry because everywhere around the ferry required permit parking

got on the ferry to vashon island and did the shoot..got on the ferry back to seattle, and drove home without any brakes (stupidy or skill?)

Im still working on it :(

got two essays to write and a history exam to study for today

fuck college

korea, ill see you some day

so today is the big day, kbbq night with the guys…looks like were skipping option b and going straight for the kill with option a ($100??)

soju night too! i need a shot after losing my chance today

so lately, ive been getting back into my roots of korean movies and music, not the dramas..thats for girls (sorry benson)

anyways, there are two korean exchange students at cornish, ive talked to them a bit and theyre both really cool chicks

but today, while in the metro tunnel..an elderly korean couple from seoul approaches me and asks me how to get to uwajimaya, i tried to explain but decided to just take them there myself since i was in no rush to go home

they were cool..the lady felt on my arm to thank me..how erotic  :\

the husband was super cool though..he like whispered into my ears about how he was going to suprise his son (UW Student getting his PHD) with kimchee..then he whispered god bless you to me for taking them there..but when he whispers..its more like high volume talking next to my ear

so i go back into the tunnel and this cute azn girl walks by.. -____-

i was like omg shes cute

then she starts talking korean on the phone

i was like omg wtf

fuck..while im listening to big bang too

i tried to talk to her but my heart coudlnt stop pounding from my nervousness.. :\

then she got on the bus

i didnt know what to say..”hey i heard you speak in korean, do you like korean music?”

i would look like an idiot

and im alone all over again :(

time to play some arcade and eat some meats with benson

or should i say shreds onto the slopes with its awaited snowboarding line. in my opinion, with the lack of womens wear and white boots, i’ll stick to my year old helly gear. the waterproofness on their jackets and pants are at an average 10,000 mm and not that it matters, but nothing matches! the men’s stuff isn’t too bad, they have an advantage over selection, i guess. while helly hansen had an okay year last year with product image, this year is probably about the same; a couple nice jackets with good features and a lot more that have awful colorways and not enough features. but again lacking in the women’s department. i could’ve sworn women shopped and accessorized more than men. maybe i can pick up some shifts in december again just for that discount.

and their server is busy so i can’t get my schedule off the internet! and the student center opens when my first class starts. lame. i want to dress up like a pirate, i’ll still blend in. it’s seattle central after all.

The nine month wait is finally over. Heroes season 3 premieres tonight… in America. and im all the way over here.. fuck. Its pretty lame that season 2 just premiered over here a couple weeks ago. This blows.. if you happen to be watching it tonight.. i want you to keep in mind that you suck and i hate you and please TiVo it for me. on second thought.. fuck, i dont know anybody that has tivo. Help me out tho, record it on a VHS or something.. Theres been a few mysteries just itching to be solved like.. WTF is level 5 and why does it sound so awesome? Who shot Nathan?!?! What the hell is wrong with Peter?.. and Why is Claire so hot? By the way, Elle and Maya aren’t too shabby either. hah. season 3.. woot. delayed premiere in Asia.. boo.

So i went to this birthday dinner the other night. the food was coo, got to meet family members that i didnt know i had. i didnt even know whos birthday it was.. either great grand-aunt or just grand aunt. but thats besides the point… it was her 110th birthday, yes folks the big 1-1-0. Now I was pretty careful when i went to go say wassup to her and made sure i didnt make any sudden movements and it sucks that i couldnt cake her or any of that fun stuff but i do give her kudos for reaching a milestone that most of us can only imagine. Come to think of it… i dont think i’d ever want to live that long. Anyways.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY yo!
