I’ve never been good at writing these kind of things, so this is a diary of my transitioning in art school as a freshmen (and so on) from high school until i graduate from college with a BFA at Cornish College of the Arts and ultimately documenting my life within that time-span; enjoying it, hating it, questioning it, and writing it all down. I’ve come to the realization of what it means to have a BFA or any type of degree in art. I also understand how it is viewed as a useless degree with possibilities of success as slim as it is to make it in the NBA. And when i tell people im majoring in art, they laugh inside as their eyes tell me to grow up, and then they say “that must be fun.”

“GET REAL.”

Thats what I tell myself everyday. I’m questioning my worth as an artist and my capability to produce work that will ultimately bring in the bacon. I’m spending over $26,000 a year for schooling in a field I display no confidence in and for a degree that lacks the financial stability needed to operate in this country. I know that 70% of artists have to work two jobs in order to function as middle class. And I hate it when people tell me just do what you love you’ll be okay. I love too many things in life to be okay with just one thing.

I’m just an artist in the city who has no idea what he has gotten himself into.

Its a fact that by decreasing your diet by 38% makes your art 76% better.
